Strictly Come Dancing is facing fresh controversy after reports emerged of a secret video allegedly showing a married former contestant kissing a female professional dancer. The 12-second clip, reportedly recorded at Elstree Studios by a production team member, has been circulating on WhatsApp, according to a TV insider.
The source told The Sun that the footage could 'rock the very foundations' of the BBC One show. 'The kiss only lasts a few seconds but it would more than likely end his marriage and destroy his carefully cultivated family man image,' the insider said, adding that the pair had previously denied romance rumours.
The identities of those involved remain unclear. The scandal adds to a series of controversies surrounding the programme, including claims of bullying and drug use by a celebrity contestant. The 'Strictly curse'—where participants in relationships find romance with dance partners—has long been a talking point, with past examples including Joe Sugg and Dianne Buswell, and Stacey Dooley and Kevin Clifton.
The news comes shortly after hosts Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman announced they would leave the show at the end of the current series. Daly has presented since the first series in 2004, while Winkleman joined in 2014.
