Strictly favourite Lawrence Robb admits he expected dance-off after jive
Strictly's Lawrence Robb admits he expected dance-off

Lawrence Robb has admitted he was mentally preparing for the dance-off after a difficult week on Strictly Come Dancing. The Emmerdale actor and his professional partner Jowita Przystał scored only 19 points for their jive to a mash-up of Fatboy Slim's The Rockafeller Skank and The Knack's My Sharona.

The judges' comments were not complimentary. Craig Revel Horwood said the routine "wasn't for me" and labelled it "flat-footed and out-of-time". Shirley Ballas observed: "You can't be making too many mistakes, but some good things in there, so be proud."

Reflecting on a tough night

On Friday, October 30, Lawrence appeared on It Takes Two and discussed the performance with presenter Ellie Taylor, who said: "Lawrence, it was a tough night for you." He confirmed: "It was yes."

When asked how he reflected on it, he said: "Every week is a new week, I think, and, you know, you learn from mistakes, I definitely did make a mistake. At the beginning. But, you know, every dance, I've really enjoyed performing, and I think that that's the main thing of why I'm doing it. I'd like to think that anyway, it's just the love of performing and to have fun doing it and just keep reminding myself of that."

Preparing for the worst

Ellie also asked whether it was "just a bad day at the office", to which Lawrence joked: "Let's hope so!" She then noted that he finished second-to-last on the judges' leaderboard and asked if he was mentally preparing for the dance-off.

Making a sad admission, Lawrence responded: "Yes. 100%. I think if you're in that position, you can't not. I was mentally, you know, setting up to be, like, right, I'm doing it again."

Viewers react to the scoring

Viewers voiced frustration over Lawrence's scoring, describing it as "ridiculously harsh". On X, one viewer posted: "Just me that didn't think Lawrence was THAT bad? ?" Another stated: "That was ridiculously harsh on Lawrence." A third questioned: "I genuinely didn't see that mistake Lawrence did? Am I blind?"

However, a different Strictly viewer commented: "100% respect that Lawrence is really trying and giving his all. That jive wasn't great though - it's fitting the clocks are going back tonight because his kicks and flicks were in a different time zone to Jowita's." Strictly Come Dancing airs every weekend on BBC One and iPlayer.
