Strictly Come Dancing contestant Lacey Turner has said she is not "ready to go home" as the BBC competition reaches week seven. On Saturday evening, November 7, the 38-year-old and her professional partner Vito Coppola, 34, will perform a Rumba to Coldplay's track Yellow in the Strictly ballroom.
The live show marks the halfway point of the competition, with the remaining couples aiming to impress the judges and the audience at home. Jamie Winstone will not dance this weekend due to injury, but she and her professional partner Carlos Gu receive a bye through to week eight, when it is hoped they will be able to dance again.
Leaderboard Success in Halloween Special
Last week, EastEnders star Lacey, who played Lacey Slater on the soap, topped the leaderboard for the first time during the Halloween special. Along with Italian dancer Vito, she performed a Charleston to "Crazy Stupid Love" by Cheryl and Tinie Tempah, channeling gothic glamour in an all-black outfit, and impressed judges Shirley Ballas, Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse, and Anton Du Beke.
They received a total of 36 points, with straight 9s from the judges, as Motsi described the routine as the "best dance of the night". YouTuber John Nellis, 33, and Katya Jones followed closely in second spot, with 35 points for their Tango. Two couples were in third spot with 33 points each: model Cash Mercer, 25, with Maddie Ingoldsby, 21, who danced an Argentine Tango, and singer Delta Goodrem, 41, with Kai Widdrington, 31, who performed a Viennese Waltz.
Plea to Fans on Instagram
As the competition heats up, Lacey and Vito have admitted they are not ready to leave the BBC competition and have urged fans to vote for them after their performance tonight. Turning to Instagram Stories on Saturday afternoon, soap star Lacey shared a photo of herself along with Vito taken from a previous Strictly performance.
She captioned the image: "Ok...the competition is heating up, and nobody is safe. As amazing as we know the green team are we need you to pick up your phone/laptops/tablets and all get voting. We're not ready to go home yet. Still lots more to come." Lacey and Vito have become known as the green team, as the four-leaf clover has become their shared symbol of luck.
