Alex Kingston Slams Craig Revel Horwood's 'Mean-Spirited' Midlife Crisis Jibe

Alex Kingston has criticised Strictly Come Dancing judge Craig Revel-Horwood as 'mean-spirited' after he compared her to a woman having a midlife crisis during her time on the show. The 62-year-old actress, best known for her roles in Doctor Who and ER, partnered with professional dancer Johannes Radebe and finished in eighth place.

The comment came after Kingston's Halloween performance, a salsa to Mousse T's 1998 track 'Horny'. While fellow judges Shirley Ballas and Anton Du Beke praised the routine, Revel-Horwood offered a harsher assessment. Speaking to Prima magazine, Kingston said she was unaware of the full extent of the criticism at the time.

Kingston said: 'It was a little mean-spirited for Craig to say that and also I just felt like it's exactly the opposite of what I'm trying to advocate. It's like, no, if you want to dance and swing a devil's tail around and you're in your 90s, do it. I mean, this is your life. So live it!'

Despite the criticism, Kingston praised her dance partner Johannes Radebe, describing him as someone who will remain 'in her life forever'. She said they were a 'natural fit' from the start, adding: 'My dance partner, JoJo is going to be in my life forever. We really did connect and I always wanted him to be my dance partner because I just loved watching how he danced.'

Kingston also revealed she wants to 'live in the moment' as she gets older, refusing to 'subscribe to norms' regarding how people should behave at a certain age. This philosophy extends to her wardrobe choices, with the actress saying she has 'found my own style' that allows her to express herself authentically.
