Strictly Come Dancing professional Neil Jones was forced to miss the Halloween special after suffering a knee injury earlier on Saturday. The dancer, partnered with former footballer Alex Scott, was absent from the opening routine, prompting concern among fans.
Jones tweeted his disappointment, saying: 'I'm gutted tonight I won't be able to dance because I was injured earlier today but I know Alex will smash it tonight, she's worked hard all week and she's in safe hands with Kevin Clifton.' Clifton, who was eliminated in week two with Anneka Rice, stepped in at short notice to perform a Couples Choice routine to the Ghostbusters theme.
Viewers expressed frustration on social media, with one writing: 'Kevin instead of Neil just isn't going to cut it #Strictly.' Another questioned how Clifton could learn the street routine so quickly, as it is not a standard dance style.
Meanwhile, Will Bayley also suffered an injury, revealing in a video that he thought he had broken his leg after a jump went wrong in training. Tess Daly announced that Bayley would be allowed to advance to next week without dancing.
Bookmakers have Mike Bushell as the favourite to leave the competition, with odds of 4-9 after he landed in the bottom two last weekend. Kelvin Fletcher remains the overall favourite to win, ahead of Karim Zeroual.
