Dani Dyer in Talks for Strictly Come Dancing Return After Injury Exit

Dani Dyer could be set for a return to Strictly Come Dancing, just a year after a broken ankle forced her to withdraw moments before the launch show was filmed. The 29-year-old reality star has reportedly been in discussions with the BBC about rejoining the competition.

A source told The Sun: 'Dani was beyond gutted when she had to quit Strictly. She never got a chance to do a single show or a dance for the judges so when the door was opened for her again by the BBC she jumped at the chance.' The insider added that Dyer has not yet signed a contract but is 'clearing her diary' and has told the BBC she wants to take part.

Last year, Dyer fractured her ankle during rehearsals, ruling her out before the series began. At the time, she said: 'I thought I had rolled my foot but it swelled up badly. After an MRI scan it turns out I have fractured my ankle. Apparently doing the quickstep on a fracture is not advisable.' She described the experience as 'really testing my mental health'.

Earlier this month, the former Love Island star hinted at a possible return, saying: 'It’s up to them. It’s a magical thing to do, so we’ll have to see when they start casting. But yeah absolutely – who could say no to Strictly?'

Dyer is currently filming a second series of The Dyers’ Caravan Park with her father, actor Danny Dyer, who is also reprising his role in Disney+ show Rivals. She praised her father's recent success, saying: 'It’s been amazing. Everyone loves Fred-Fred, don’t they? He’s killing it in life at the minute.'
