Strictly fans shocked as Jaime Winstone hits bottom two

Strictly Come Dancing viewers were left asking 'what is going on' after the latest bottom two left them in shock, as former England footballer Shaun Wright-Phillips became the fourth celebrity to leave the BBC One contest.

Shaun and his professional partner Alexis Warr lost the dance-off on Sunday night (October 25) to actress Jaime Winstone and her partner Carlos Gu, who had finished in the bottom two after the public vote despite scoring 25 for their dance on Saturday's episode.

Dance-off decisions

The results show saw Shaun and Alexis reprise their jive to Faith by Stevie Wonder featuring Ariana Grande, while Jaime and Carlos performed their foxtrot to Man I Need by Olivia Dean again.

Judges Craig Revel Horwood and Motsi Mabuse voted to save Jaime and Carlos, but head judge Shirley Ballas, who had this week's casting vote, also chose to save Jaime and Carlos, sealing Shaun and Alexis' week five exit.

Fan reaction

While Strictly fans were expecting Shaun's journey to end after he placed at the bottom of the leaderboard on Saturday night (October 24), they were shocked to see Jaime fighting for her place in the competition.

@NatashaLKirxsu said: "Why the hell was Jaime in the bottom 2? It was a good dance. What is going on with the viewing public?" @misfituser38 commented: "The right decision, but Jaime didn't deserve to be in the DO. There were worse dances, as most had errors."

@slinehan1 shared: "I feel bad for Jaime, I would've put two couples below her and Carlos. But I'm SO glad Bethany made it through and I think Shaun going is the right decision." @louise_sasha20 added: "I feel so so sorry for Jamie, she done really well last night! Glad she got saved."

First triple dance-off announced

Sunday's results show also saw the surprise announcement of Strictly's first triple dance-off, which will take place during next week's Halloween episode.

The three couples with the lowest combined judges' scores and public votes will dance again next week, before the judges eliminate one pair. Strictly will then return to a two-couple dance-off for the rest of the series.
