Strictly fans 'finally' get pro dancers opening results show

Strictly Come Dancing viewers were left floored just minutes into the latest episode as the professional dancers opened the results show with a routine paying tribute to Madonna. The BBC competition returned on Sunday night (October 18) to reveal the anticipated Icons Week results.

Last night's show saw the celebrities posing as legendary musicians during their routines, honouring the likes of Elton John, Aretha Franklin and David Bowie. Even the judges paid tribute to their favourite icons, with Shirley Ballas donning a Lady Gaga costume, while Motsi Mabuse showed up in her best Beyonce look. Craig Revel Horwood and Anton Du Beke came as Oasis stars Liam and Noel Gallagher, which sparked plenty of online chatter.

Fans Celebrate the Pros' Return

Tonight it was the professional dancers' time to take the spotlight as they transformed into different eras of Madonna for a routine paying tribute to the Queen of Pop. Viewers at home were left saying the same thing after the pros showed off their skills in the ballroom. They gathered online to praise the "iconic" choreography, with others celebrating that the pros have returned to open the results show.

Posting on X, formerly Twitter, one fan said: "Finally giving the people what they want. Back to professional dancers opening result show," with a second agreeing: "The pro dance first, we dreamed of moments like this." Someone else praised: "MADONNA PRO DANCE WAS INSAAAAANNEEEE," while a third viewer said: "Possibly the best pro number ever #Strictly."

Tribute to Dolly Parton

A fourth chimed in with: "If you need me I'll be rewatching the Madonna dance again #strictly," and another fan was quick to note: "I have so much respect for the professional dancers what they do is inspiring."

Tonight also saw a heartfelt tribute to late country star Dolly Parton, who died in August aged 80, following a battle with cancer. Singer Belles, real name Kelli Belles, performed a cover of the hit song Jolene in Dolly's honour. Belles was one of the last artists to collaborate with Dolly ahead of her sad death. The duo performed together on Belles' song Son of Jolene, which came out back in April.
