Strictly Come Dancing viewers voiced the same complaint within seconds of the results show, as Mel C took to the stage for a performance of her 2025 song Sweat.
The week five results show opened with a gym-themed routine from the professional dancers, with Mel C appearing partway through the number. She was shown at the back of the stage on a spin bike wearing a headset microphone, before moving to the front with the help of the dancers.
Fans question the microphone
Several fans took to X to accuse the singer of miming during the performance. One wrote: "Mel C so clearly not singing live. What's the point of the mic?" Another said: "Mel C really didn't need to be there for that performance did she? Came out 3 quarters of the way through the song and then mimed horrendously. Cackling at how sh***e it was."
A third viewer commented: "Bad miming but can't deny Mel looks sensational." A fourth asked: "Why did they bother putting a microphone on Mel C?" while a fifth agreed: "Mel C miming badly. Great pro routine though."
Praise for Mel C's appearance
Despite the criticism over the vocals, many fans also praised Mel C's appearance during the routine, noting her gym work as she performed in a pink top and blue shorts.
