Strictly expert warns Lacey Turner faces setback in week seven
Strictly expert issues Lacey Turner setback warning

Strictly Come Dancing favourite Lacey Turner could face a "setback" as the competition moves into week seven, according to a body language expert.

In last week's Halloween Special on October 31, Turner, 38, and her professional partner Vito Coppola, 34, topped the leaderboard with a score of 36 for their Charleston to 'Crazy Stupid Love' by Cheryl and Tinie Tempah.

Week Six Leaderboard

YouTuber John Nellis, 33, and Katya Jones finished second with 35 points for their Tango, while two couples shared third place with 33 points each: model Cash Mercer, 25, with Maddie Ingoldsby, 21, who performed an Argentine Tango, and singer Delta Goodrem, 41, with Kai Widdrington, 31, who presented a Viennese Waltz.

During the live broadcast, the Strictly presenters announced that for the first time in the show's 22-year history, there would be a three-way dance-off, with Emmerdale star Lawrence Robb and pro dancer Jowita Przystał eliminated.

Body Language Warning

On Saturday evening, November 7, Turner will aim to secure the leading position again as she performs the Rumba to 'Yellow' by Coldplay.

Body language expert Judi James has cautioned the EastEnders actor, who played Stacey Slater in the BBC soap, to show Strictly viewers that she is enjoying her routines, reports Wales Online.

"Lacey is a difficult watch as she tends to exude non-verbal messages of being on the show under duress," James said on behalf of Paddy Power Bingo. "During the weekend's VT we saw her speaking to the camera sitting hunched up into a little ball in a corner as though hiding from a Raptor."

"Her knees were pulled up to chest level, her tone was low and quiet and first she sat with her arms folded over her knees, then she wrapped her hands together crossed at the wrists then bent and clasped. Her smile looked fake as she told us she was 'really looking forward to letting go' and her whole pose shrieked a desire to self-protect and hide."

Chance of Reaching the Final

James continued: "After her Charleston she told Emma she'd 'Had the best time' but her two hands were strangling the neck of her microphone as she did so. Her dance just lacked some of the kind of quirky, cheeky, comic charm of a perfect Charleston."

"It's the kind of comedy and sense of era acting that Will always manages to inject into his dances and which make his scores strong despite technical errors."

James went on to explain that Turner stands a solid chance of making it to the Strictly final, but she must show a gentler side to her personality.

She concluded: "Lacey deserves to be in the final two with Delta, but her body language is suggesting she really does need to unlock a sense of genuinely playful joyousness and exhilaration in her dances if she's going to beat Delta's intense elegance and old-school ballroom charm."

There are 10 remaining couples in Strictly Come Dancing: Lacey Turner and Vito Coppola, John Nellis and Katya Jones, Delta Goodrem and Kai Widdrington, Cash Mercer and Maddie Ingoldsby, Will Best and Dianne Buswell, Dani Dyer and Nikita Kuzmin, Bethany Antonia and Nancy Xu, Jaime Winstone and Carlos Gu, Tabby Stoecker and Mark Karmalita, and Graeme Hall and Lauren Oakley.

Actor Jaime Winstone will not perform in Saturday's show, according to the BBC, after suffering a torn abdominal muscle and being told to rest by doctors.

Strictly Come Dancing week seven airs live on Saturday from 6:40pm, with the results show on Sunday at 7:10pm on BBC One and iPlayer.
