Strictly Come Dancing is back this weekend, but one star is missing from the ballroom. Jaime Winstone and her professional dance partner Carlos Gu have been forced to pull out of this week's show due to an injury and will receive a bye until next week, when it is hoped she will be able to return.
Injury forces Winstone to step back
Jaime and Carlos will not perform this week after she suffered a torn abdominal muscle during rehearsals. In a statement, Jaime said: "I am absolutely devastated not to be dancing this weekend due to a torn abdominal muscle. I am in considerable pain, and my doctors have advised complete rest to give my body the best possible chance to heal. As frustrating as it is, I have to put my health first and follow their advice to step away from dancing this week."
She added: "I love every moment of dancing and performing with Carlos, and I am praying for a speedy recovery so that I can continue this magical journey. I want to thank everyone for their incredible support so far. It means more than you know. Wishing everyone on the show all the luck, love and strength for Saturday night and I hope to be back on that dance floor very soon. With love, Jaime."
Last week's exit and this week's dances
Emmerdale star Lawrence Robb left the show last week following a first-of-its-kind triple dance off. Reflecting on his exit on It Takes Two, he said: "I think number one is meeting an incredible person, and this girl here. The sense of family, the love and the joy that it brings every week, the people, and the journey."
He continued: "The idea of not knowing how to do any ballroom and Latin dancing at all, and then learning it in, what, three and a half days, and then performing it to millions of people is just, it's just wild."
For the remaining stars, the series has reached its halfway point. This week's routines include Bethany and Nancy dancing a Foxtrot to Bleeding Love by Leona Lewis, Dani and Nikita performing an American Smooth to It Had to Be You by Harry Connick Jr., and Delta and Kai dancing a Cha Cha to Let's Get Loud by Jennifer Lopez. Other performances feature Lacey and Vito with a Rumba to Yellow by Coldplay, Tabby and Mark with a Paso Doble to Supermassive Black Hole by Muse, and Cach and Maddie with a Waltz to That Ain't You by Mulaa Joans.
Graeme and Lauren will perform a Couple's Choice to The Book of Love by Peter Gabriel, John and Katya a Salsa to Get Lucky by Daft Punk featuring Pharrell and Nile Rodgers, and Will and Dianne a Quickstep to This Love by Maroon 5. The show continues tonight, with the remaining couples dancing to secure their place in next week's edition.
