Jamie Campbell Bower, who played the villain Vecna in Netflix's Stranger Things, has received an outpouring of support from fans after posting a six-word statement following the show's final episode. The series concluded on New Year's Day with a two-hour finale that saw Vecna defeated and beheaded by Joyce, while Eleven appeared to sacrifice herself.
In the episode, a time skip shows the gang playing their final Dungeons and Dragons game after graduating. Mike theorises that Eleven may have survived and is living peacefully in a remote town with three waterfalls, though the ending is deliberately ambiguous, leaving viewers to interpret their own conclusion.
Bower's statement on social media read: "It’s been a pleasure to serve x." Fans quickly praised his performance, with many predicting awards success. One fan wrote: "You sir were the highlight of the entire show, Oscar winner level acting. Golden globe pending." Another said: "The best performance I've seen in a long time! Great job!"
Other comments referenced Bower's earlier role in Sweeney Todd, with one fan adding: "I'm glad you have a new audience through this show. been here since Sweeney Todd." Another described his performance as "God tier."
All five seasons of Stranger Things are now streaming on Netflix.
