Excitement for the fourth season of Stranger Things continues to build, with fans speculating about which characters might return. A new theory suggests that Dr Martin Brenner, the scientist who seemingly died in season one, could be alive and imprisoned in Russia.
The theory, posted on Reddit by user kony_stark, proposes that the Russians have been using Brenner for his scientific expertise to access the Upside Down. This is supported by a scene in season two where former agent Ray Carroll claims Brenner is still alive and that he knows his whereabouts.
If correct, the theory would bring the story full circle, with Brenner potentially reuniting with Eleven. The Reddit user speculates that Brenner might help save Hopper, who may be trapped in the Upside Down, though Eleven could become the season's main antagonist.
While Netflix has not yet confirmed a fourth season, the show's popularity makes it highly likely. The Duffer brothers are expected to continue the series, which remains one of the streaming service's most successful programmes.
