Hundreds of Spider-Man fans gathered in Glasgow city centre on Wednesday as filming took place for the upcoming Marvel film Spider-Man: Brand New Day. The actor in the superhero costume was seen performing stunts on Hutcheson Street, with Tom Holland’s stunt double clinging to the back of an armoured military vehicle at high speed.

Passers-by captured the action on their phones while production crews filmed an intense chase scene. This marks the fourth instalment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Spider-Man story and the 38th film in the franchise.

Tom Holland reprises his lead role, with Zendaya returning as Michelle “MJ” Jones-Watson. Jon Bernthal appears as Frank Castle/The Punisher, and Mark Ruffalo returns as Bruce Banner/The Hulk. The film is directed by Daniel Destin Cretton, known for Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.

The title Brand New Day references a 2008 Marvel storyline where the universe forgot Spider-Man’s identity, fitting the ending of No Way Home where Doctor Strange’s spell erased memories of Peter Parker. The film is set for release next year.
