Sky Atlantic's new crime series Atomic, starring Alfie Allen and Shazad Latif, has been hailed as the best thriller of the year. The action-packed drama follows Max (Allen), a drug smuggler who meets enigmatic JJ (Latif) while driving from north Africa to the Middle East. The pair are quickly swept into trouble, facing violent extremist ambushes and the CIA and MI6 closing in.
What begins as a bid for survival soon becomes a tale of redemption. Critics have praised the chemistry between Allen and Latif, calling them a 'punchy pair' in the high-stakes series. The show airs at 10pm on Sky Atlantic.
Elsewhere in tonight's TV lineup, The Dog Academy returns with heart-tugging stories, including Spud the French bulldog and Tinker the cane corso cross. New Lives in the Wild sees Ben Fogle visit Rupert, a British expat rice farming in Japan. The Fortune Hotel continues with Stephen Mangan, while The Vivienne: A Life in Drag celebrates the late drag star.
First Dates returns to Channel 4 with Wendy, 66, and Gary, plus Towie star Leah. The Thursday Murder Club, based on Richard Osman's novel, premieres on Netflix with Helen Mirren, Pierce Brosnan, and Ben Kingsley.
