Sinéad Keenan has revealed she was 'not-so-secretly nervous' about a key scene in Netflix's new series 'How to Get to Heaven From Belfast', fearing she might drown during a boat sequence.
The eight-part comedy crime caper, from 'Derry Girls' creator Lisa McGee, follows three women investigating the death of their school friend. Keenan plays Robyn, who teams up with Saoirse (Roisin Gallagher) and Dara (Caoilfhionn Dunne) on a frantic quest across Ireland and Portugal.
Filmed on location in Malta, the trio find themselves in serious trouble after a confrontation with a mysterious fixer. The scene required them to escape on an inflatable dinghy, which left Keenan anxious. 'I was secretly... probably not so secretly, quite nervous about it,' she said, prompting laughter from co-star Dunne, who remarked, 'You hid that well. God, you're an actress.'
When asked what specifically worried her, Keenan admitted: 'Drowning. And I can swim! Which is the weird thing. But just drowning, death.'
The cast also revealed that the Portugal scenes were filmed in the same locations as the 2024 blockbuster 'Gladiator II'. Keenan praised McGee's collaborative approach, noting: 'There's no ego with her... which makes it a really enjoyable place to work.'
'How to Get to Heaven From Belfast' is now streaming on Netflix.
