Silent Witness returns for its 29th season on BBC One, with the first episode airing on Monday at 9pm, followed by episode 2 on Tuesday at the same time. The remaining eight episodes will follow a weekly pattern, one per week.
The new season sees Dr Nikki Alexander (Emilia Fox) and Jack Hodgson (David Caves) adjusting to married life. The couple briefly touched on the subject of children in season 28, and it remains to be seen whether that storyline will be explored further.
In addition to personal developments, Nikki and Jack face a fresh set of gripping cases at The Sir William Bowman Centre of Excellence in Birmingham, where they are joined by Harriet (Maggie Steed) and Kit (Fran Mills). They are tasked with solving five of their toughest cases yet.
Last season, Nikki was asked by the Home Office to set up a new forensic centre of excellence, but the news was undercut when she was told she would need to take over from Harriet. The new episodes will explore this professional opportunity and its implications.
All previous seasons of Silent Witness (1-28) are available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
