David Caves, who plays Jack Hodgson in Silent Witness, has hinted at a challenging future for his character following a dramatic twist in the latest series. The beloved forensic scientist finds himself in a precarious situation after a drunken pub brawl leads to the death of the man he fought with.
In the upcoming episode titled 'Grace Of God', Jack becomes embroiled in a personal crisis as he believes he is responsible for the man's death. Matters escalate when he ends up behind bars, leaving fans questioning whether this marks the end for the long-standing character.
Discussing the storyline, David Caves revealed: 'Jack is really tested in one story, a very personal odyssey he must go on alone.' He added that Jack remains 'stubborn, sarcastic' but with more self-awareness, and is deeply affected by the trials of his work.
The actor also spoke about Jack's vulnerability, describing him as 'tough but can be vulnerable' and a 'truth-seeker'. As the series concludes on BBC iPlayer, Jack's wife Nikki Alexander desperately tries to protect him, leaving viewers to wonder if she will reach him in time.
