A long-time fan of Silent Witness has expressed concern that the show could be ruined if Jack Hodgson, played by David Caves, is written out. The fan, who has watched the series for years, believes that the character's exit is imminent based on recent plot developments.
Jack Hodgson joined the BBC drama in its 15th series and quickly became a fan favourite, particularly for his relationship with Dr Nikki Alexander (Emilia Fox). After years of will-they-won't-they tension, the pair finally got together in series 24, with a proposal in series 27 and a wedding at the end of series 28.
However, the couple's move to Birmingham has brought trouble. Jack has been targeted by individuals using AI deepfakes to falsely accuse him of racism, putting his job at risk. Spoilers suggest his fate is uncertain, leading to fears that the character may be killed off.
The fan argues that after waiting so long for Nikki to find happiness, it would be a mistake to end Jack's story so soon. They note that the show's appeal lies not just in the forensic cases but also in the personal lives of the characters, and that Nikki has been noticeably lighter and happier since marrying Jack.
Silent Witness continues to air on BBC One, with the current series exploring the consequences of the deepfake allegations against Jack.
