Sheridan Smith's Secret Puppy Reveal on Saturday Kitchen

Actress Sheridan Smith accidentally revealed her new puppy during an appearance on Saturday Kitchen, joking that she had been 'outed' on live television. The star appeared on the BBC show on Saturday morning (January 25) to discuss her latest theatrical project, Woman In Mind, when the conversation turned to her new furry companion.

Smith admitted she had kept the new addition a secret from her mother, Marilyn. 'Mum doesn't know!' she gasped, before adding: 'Oh no, you've outed me.' When host Matt Tebbutt asked if her mother would be watching, Smith confirmed she would, revealing it was her birthday the following day. 'I've bought myself a dog,' she said, waving at the camera.

Tebbutt attempted to smooth things over, addressing the camera directly: 'Happy birthday, Marilyn. Don't worry about the dog - it's lovely.' Smith laughed as she realised her secret was out. Later in the programme, she introduced her four-month-old puppy to viewers, cradling the dog as Tebbutt announced: 'Puppy alert! Here we are. Marilyn meet Winifred.' Smith chuckled, apologising to her mother: 'Mum, I'm sorry, I'm sorry!'

The actress, who has a five-year-old son, appeared alongside celebrity chef Poppy O'Toole. Tebbutt, when asked if he would get a dog, explained that his frequent travel made it impractical, adding that he has cats instead.
