Sharon Stone has revealed the extent of the abuse she suffered at the hands of her grandfather, as well as the shocking final words her mother said to her before she died. The 67-year-old actress, best known for her role in Basic Instinct, spoke candidly about her family dysfunction in a recent interview.
Stone disclosed that her maternal grandfather was a violent abuser and paedophile who beat her mother, Dorothy, from the age of five until she left home at nine. She also claimed he abused her and her sister when they were little girls. 'Nobody comes through this life intact,' Stone said.
The actress described her mother's final days, saying Dot repeatedly threatened to 'kick you in the c***' during her delirium. Her last words to Stone were: 'You talk too much, you make me want to commit suicide.' Stone admitted the comment was 'a hard one to go out on'.
Stone, who previously detailed her traumatic childhood in her 2021 memoir The Beauty Of Living Twice, said her mother was terrified of dying because she feared seeing her abusive parents in the afterlife. 'I convinced her that I had put them in jail and they were not going to be there,' Stone recalled.
The actress, who suffered a near-fatal stroke in 2001, also discussed her own health struggles. She said she was 'almost killed' by the stroke, which left her with a 1% chance of survival. Stone has since become an advocate for stroke awareness.
