Fans of The Great British Sewing Bee were left shocked as judge Esme Young revealed a serious health crisis that threatened to take her away from the beloved BBC show permanently.
The 74-year-old fashion expert, known for her sharp eye and warm personality on the hit sewing competition, disclosed she suffered a frightening medical emergency that left her unable to walk properly for months.
A Terrifying Ordeal
"I thought that was it - I wouldn't be able to do Sewing Bee anymore," Esme confessed about the incident that occurred after she fell ill while filming the show's ninth series.
The beloved judge described experiencing sudden and severe back pain that rapidly worsened. "I could barely move. The pain was excruciating," she recalled.
Diagnosis and Recovery
Medical tests revealed Esme was suffering from spinal stenosis, a serious condition causing compression of nerves in her spine. The diagnosis came as a shock to the normally active television personality.
