Fast & Furious 11, also known as Fast X Part 2, has been delayed from its original April 2025 release date, with no new date announced by Universal as of May 2025. Filming has not started, despite director Louis Leterrier previously stating it would begin early this year. The lack of production progress raises doubts about a planned 2026 release, which would mark the franchise's 25th anniversary.
Vin Diesel is currently working on Los Bandoleros 2, a sequel to the short film that preceded the fourth movie, rather than Fast X Part 2. Additionally, Dwayne Johnson's standalone Hobbs movie is expected to precede the next main instalment, but no updates have been provided since its announcement in June 2023.
Alan Ritchson, who plays Aimes in the series, attributed delays to scheduling conflicts among the A-list cast. 'You've got a lot of guys like Dwayne and Vin and Momoa and myself and everybody's super busy. So trying to get the stars to align so we can make that happen is a feat of nature,' he told ScreenRant in February 2025.
The cast for Fast & Furious 11 is unconfirmed, but key characters are expected to return. Vin Diesel will reprise his role as Dominic Toretto, despite his apparent peril at the end of Fast X. Michelle Rodriguez, Charlize Theron, Gal Gadot, Jason Statham, and Jordana Brewster are also likely to return. The fates of Roman, Tej, Ramsey, and Han remain uncertain after their plane was shot down, but their survival is plausible given the franchise's history.
John Cena's character Jakob Toretto died in Fast X, though no body was shown, leaving the door open for a potential return. Jason Momoa's Dante Reyes and Alan Ritchson's Aimes are set to continue as antagonists. The Hobbs solo movie, if it proceeds, may feature Jason Statham, though it is not being referred to as Hobbs & Shaw 2.
