Neil Flynn will not reprise his role as The Janitor in the upcoming tenth season of Scrubs, according to executive producer Zach Braff. The revival, set to debut in 2026, has left fans disappointed by the character's absence from the trailer.
Braff, who played J.D. in the original series, explained to Esquire magazine that while there is interest in bringing Flynn back, the first season's nine-episode order may not accommodate a storyline worthy of the actor. He stated: 'If we’re blessed to have a second season, absolutely. But do we have the bandwidth in the first nine to get to it all and service a story that would be worthy of Ken and Neil? That might come true.'
The revival sees original cast members including J.D., Turk, Elliot, and Carla returning to Sacred Heart Hospital. New episodes will stream weekly on Disney+, with the season concluding around mid-April 2026.
