Matthew Broderick has spoken warmly about his 23-year marriage to Sarah Jessica Parker, describing her as his 'best friend' and praising their life together. The 58-year-old actor made the comments during an appearance on Bruce Springsteen's SiriusXM show 'Quarantined With Bruce' on Friday.
Broderick, best known for his role in 'Ferris Bueller's Day Off', said he 'can't believe' how long they have been together but expressed gratitude for their relationship. 'I don't know the secret [to marriage] at all, but I'm very grateful and I love her and, it's amazing,' he said.
The actor also praised Parker's acting abilities, recalling their joint performance in the Broadway play 'Plaza Suite', which was shut down in March due to the pandemic. 'Even though we only just did it in Boston for a little while, Plaza Suite, you know, she was so, so good in it,' he said, adding that acting opposite her reminded him of 'how funny and smart and what a great actor she is.'
Parker, 55, previously shared her own insights on their marriage in an interview with Us Weekly last year, emphasising the importance of privacy. 'We have a family, we have children, we have friends that have passed away, we have relationships … We don't talk about it — that's how it stays strong,' she said.
The couple met in 1991 and married six years later in New York City. They have three children: 18-year-old James and twin daughters Marion and Tabitha, 11. They are currently building a mega-mansion in the city after combining two brownstones.
