Rylan Clark has jokingly threatened to sue the BBC after spotting a peculiar issue with the United Kingdom's Eurovision entry. The musician Sam Battle, performing under the alias Look Mum No Computer, is set to represent the UK at the Eurovision Song Contest on Saturday in Austria. If victorious, this would mark the UK's first win since 1997, when Katrina and the Waves triumphed with 'Love Shine a Light'. The UK has faced challenges in recent years, with last year's entry Remember Monday finishing 18th out of 26, often attributed to weak song choices.
However, Rylan identified a different problem during a segment on BBC Radio 2. When asked about the costume choices, he exclaimed, 'Our dancers costumes…actually, I'm going to sue the BBC, they've used my teeth. That is my likeness and I know what I've copyrighted.' Eurovision host Graham Norton chimed in, joking that he 'has a table at home' and would join the legal action. Rylan responded, 'Me, Graham and Ikea are onto the lawyers as we speak.'
Rylan, a former X Factor contestant, famously spent £25,000 on porcelain-white veneers before transitioning to TV presenting. He later admitted regretting the decision, telling OK! magazine that he removed them in 2022 and replaced them with smaller teeth, describing the initial choice as a 'mid-life crisis.' He also noted that his veneers overshadowed his presenting debut on Big Brother's Bit on the Side, saying, 'My mouth was swollen from the anaesthetic, they were brilliant-white, brand new. That was the first night everyone saw them, and all people did was take the p**s out of my teeth. So no one realised I was a s**t presenter, and by the time they stopped talking about my teeth a few months later, I'd got better at the job.'
During the same Radio 2 interview, presenter Gary Davies asked Rylan which Eurovision acts he should not miss. Rylan named Bulgaria as a favourite, along with Cyprus, represented by former Love Islander Antigoni Buxton. He commented, 'Cyprus is getting ups and downs with comments online. But the song, I'll be completely honest, there's one song every year that our delegation will hum along to or sing in the bar that isn't ours, that is the one.' Gary then praised Viva Moldova, prompting Rylan to compare it to Jess Glynne's viral hit 'Hold My Hand', stating, 'I think that has got the potential to be the Jess Glynne Hold My Hand of Moldovan Airlines. Literally, the Moldovan tourist board should be jumping on that straight away.'
Rylan's Eurovision co-star Angela Scanlon also shared her thoughts on the UK's act, with bookmakers placing Look Mum No Computer at 120-1 odds to win. Angela remarked, 'There's something really exciting about an act that feels completely original – and that's what he brings in spades. Eins, Zwei, Drei has personality, energy, and that slightly unpredictable edge that Eurovision audiences love. If the performance lands the way it promises to, I think it could really connect. And ultimately, that's what it's all about – creating a moment people remember.'
