Russell Brand Called Lorraine Kelly a Sl*t on TV, She Recalls

Lorraine Kelly has recalled a moment when Russell Brand called her a "sl*t" during a joint television appearance, revisiting the incident after Brand was found guilty of rape and sexual assault.

In 2023, when allegations against Brand emerged, the daytime television presenter remembered a 2007 appearance with the comedian on The Graham Norton Show. Kelly shared footage from the programme on her own show, Lorraine.

The On-Air Incident

The clip showed Brand touching her leg and saying: "Oh my god, you're wearing suspenders. I have been in other films but none of that matters now I know Lorraine Kelly is a sl*t."

The Scottish host admitted that revisiting the clip left her feeling "uncomfortable", acknowledging that while both she and Brand had been laughing at the time, she would likely have spoken up nowadays.

Kelly's Reflection

Kelly said: "I interviewed him a lot over that time when he was in the public eye. I usually got the charming Russell, the flirty Russell but I have been doing this a long time and I would like to think there was a tiny bit of respect there, maybe. Although this happened."

She went on: "It's an entertainment show. That was his shtick... That's what he was not just doing, but actively encouraged to do. It's not that long ago, not really."

Kelly added: "I do wonder if I would have put up with that now. I do wonder if we are in a different place now and if it even would have been aired."

Verdict and Sentencing

Brand has been found guilty of one count of rape and three of sexual assault, and was cleared of the other three charges. Upon hearing the verdict from the jury made up of eight men and four women, the judge remanded him into custody, where he awaits sentencing on Monday, November 9.

Brand was warned to expect a "significant" custodial sentence.
