The Netflix thriller Run Away concluded with a dramatic finale that revealed the killer of Aaron, a key character. The series, starring James Nesbitt as father Simon Greene, follows his desperate search for his missing teenage daughter Paige. In the final episode, Detective Fagbenle (Alfred Enoch) uncovers the truth: Aaron was born into the cult The Beacon of the Shining Truth, along with several half-brothers, all fathered by cult leader Casper Vartage. Vartage deemed the brothers 'un-divine' and hired hitmen Dee-Dee and Ash to kill them.
The hitmen successfully murdered Aaron, whose body was found by Paige at their flat. Paige, fearing she would be blamed, went into hiding and later entered rehab. She remained unaware of the events unfolding around her until her counsellor informed her about her mother Ingrid's hospitalisation. Paige then reunited with her father Simon at the hospital, explaining her absence and her struggle with addiction.
In the finale's climax, Simon is shot during a confrontation with Dee-Dee and Ash. Dee-Dee is killed by a mysterious woman known as Mother Adiona, who later reveals to Simon that she is the mother of one of Aaron's half-brothers. She had tracked down her son via a DNA website and learned of the murder plot, prompting her to intervene. Simon agrees not to reveal her role in Dee-Dee's death to the police.
Meanwhile, Detective Fagbenle arrests Casper Vartage as he attempts to take a lethal pill to avoid capture. The detective also discovers the body of private investigator Elena Ravenscroft (Ruth Jones), who had been killed and buried in the woods. Simon, having recovered from his injuries, continues his search for Paige until he finds her at the hospital visiting Ingrid.
Paige explains that she had been in rehab for a month, having previously attended the same facility. She had left rehab earlier after Aaron broke in and injected her with drugs in her sleep. Now sober, she struggles with the hospital environment, which she finds triggering. The series ends with Simon and Paige beginning to rebuild their relationship.
