Rob Rinder Opens Up on 'Platonic Love' for Rylan Clark Ahead of New Series
Rob Rinder on Platonic Love for Rylan Clark Before New Show

Rob Rinder has opened up about his 'platonic love' for Rylan Clark ahead of their new travel series. The 48-year-old has embarked on two travelling series with his friend and This Morning star Rylan Clark.

Previous Travel Adventures

For the past two years, BBC viewers have watched friends Rob Rinder and Rylan Clark travel the globe together. In 2024, during their Grand Tour show, the three-part series saw them visit Venice, Florence, and Rome as they explored Italy's art, history, and culture. A year later, in their Passage to India show, fans saw them travel across the country as they traced the footsteps of novelist E.M. Forster.

Upcoming Greece Series

Now, the pair are set to join forces once again, as viewers will see them head to Greece later this year. Appearing on Wednesday's This Morning (June 17), he spoke to presenters Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley about their upcoming travel series.

Cat commented: "One of my favourite shows is when you and Rylan go off on your travels together. I love the funny bits, I love the sad bits, I love the bits when you're floating down the River Ganges talking about life. It's a dream job!"

Rob replied: "It is an exquisitely dream job, to do it with someone who is so intelligent and who I genuinely, in a very benign way, let me be clear, in a platonic way, love."

As Ben highlighted that they have very different cultural references, Rob explained that it enables him to learn from his friends.

Rob added: "The whole point of it is that we learnt from each other and there's no big hierarchy of art or culture. If you delight in something, you should not only enjoy it yourself, but also bring as many people into it as well."

DJ Lessons Fail

However, when speaking about the upcoming series, Rob teased that Rylan tried to teach him a hobby of his own, which didn't go down well. Explaining that they'll next be in Greece in the autumn, he shared: "I don't want to say too much about it, but he did try to teach me how to DJ."

Ben asked: "How did that go?" Giving a two-word reply, he confirmed: "Not well." The 48-year-old joked he had no idea what was going on and told the ITV presenters he parties like it's 1899.

Rob added: "By the end, he got so frustrated with me. But, here's the thing, what I realised, I come to that world with my own bias and assumptions. Of course, doing that properly, you're not just pressing buttons. It's real musical skill. I watched him do it, and I was like a proud mum."

Both of Rob and Rylan's travel series are available to watch on BBC iPlayer. This Morning is available to watch on ITV weekdays from 10am.
