The highly anticipated second season of 'Rivals' has been confirmed for release on 15 May on Disney+, with a new teaser trailer showcasing David Tennant's return as Lord Tony Baddingham.
The trailer opens with Tennant, 54, striding from a helicopter and declaring, 'Sorry I’m late, darling. I’ve had a terrible headache.' It follows last season's cliffhanger where his character was left motionless after being struck by Cameron Cooke (Nafessa Williams). Lord Baddingham quickly reasserts his authority, warning employees in the Corinium Television offices: 'We are at war.'
Returning cast includes Danny Dyer as Freddie Jones, who describes the chaos as 'a bloody circus.' Alex Hassell's Rupert Campbell-Black is seen getting close with Bella Maclean's Taggie O'Hara, while Aidan Turner's Declan O'Hara remarks, 'It’s entertaining. In the most delightful way.'
New guest stars include Hayley Atwell and Rupert Everett. Set in the 1980s Cotswolds, the drama follows the high-stakes world of British television. Based on Dame Jilly Cooper's novel, the second series will consist of 12 episodes.
