Richard Osman Reveals When Michael Sheen Will Take Over House of Games

Richard Osman has disclosed that he is filming his final episodes of the BBC quiz show House of Games this week, with Michael Sheen set to take over as host. The former Pointless star shared a selfie with Sheen on social media, teasing that the Welsh actor's first episodes will likely air in September.

Osman posted on social media: "My final week, followed by Michael’s first week will be on air, I’m guessing in September. Can’t wait to watch him." He also shared an image of Sheen's dressing room with the caption "#Hello #Goodbye".

The announcement of Sheen's takeover was made on 16 March, ending Osman's nine-year run. Sheen, known for roles in Frost/Nixon and Good Omens, will make his quiz show presenting debut, overseeing 100 episodes scheduled to broadcast later this year.

Sheen said at the time: "Quite literally very large shoes to fill but as a huge fan of the show I'm incredibly excited to be able to move into the House and at long last see my silhouette on a fondue set."

Tamara Gilder, Joint Managing Director of Remarkable Entertainment, said: "We are thrilled to be handing Michael Sheen the keys to House of Games. The show has always been a love letter to those who adore quizzes – and we have a new host who loves them as much as we do."

BBC Commissioning Executive Caroline O'Neill added: "We're delighted to have Michael Sheen stepping into the House of Games. His charisma and passion for playfulness will be a joy for audiences."
