Reuben Owen, star of Channel 4's Our Yorkshire Farm, has revealed that the family's newly acquired Anty John's estate is one of the few places he would happily live outside Ravenseat. Speaking during a repeat broadcast of Our Farm Next Door: Amanda, Clive and Kids, the eldest Owen son said: "Other than Ravenseat, it is probably one of the only places I'd consider living happily."
Restoring a Dilapidated Farmhouse
The spin-off series follows the Owen family as they take on the enormous challenge of restoring a secluded, dilapidated farmhouse deep in the Yorkshire Dales. At the centre of the effort is Amanda Owen, shepherdess and mother of nine, who has been open about her ambitions for Anty John's—not just as a restoration project, but as a future home for her growing family. For a household as large as the Owens, extra space is essential. Her former husband, Clive, agreed, noting how valuable the new property could become.
Addressing the Separation
In the episode, Amanda and Clive also addressed their separation, which Clive described as a "strange few years." Amanda told the camera: "Me and Clive, although we're still husband and wife, we are separate. This last year has been incredibly hard in so many respects, but we've got through." Clive added: "Me and Amanda, we've had a strange few years, and we're now at a place where, although we're not actually together, we're still in business together, and we still have these kids together. It's a crazy situation, but it isn't. It's the most sensible thing for everybody to do."
Owning a Piece of the Valley
Amanda explained: "It's just what happened, just pressures and stresses. But now we kind of pull them back together again because we kind of need to, because we've got a house to do up. Because of course, Ravenseat isn't ours; it's tenanted. So when Anty John's was put up for sale, it was a dream come true, really." Clive added: "It is nice to own a piece of this wonderful valley, and because there are so many of us, a house is certainly going to come in handy. Who will live there? We haven't even thought about that; we have no idea, but somebody will."
