In a deeply emotional episode of the BBC's 'The Repair Shop', siblings Zaff and Nasari were moved to tears as they were reunited with their father's vintage projector, restored after nearly 50 years of disuse. The projector, a cherished family heirloom, was brought from Uganda when the family fled to Rochdale in 1972.
Electrical expert Mark Stuckey worked his magic to bring the device back to life, allowing the siblings to view never-before-seen footage of their childhood. Zaff was speechless, exclaiming, 'Oh my God, wow,' while Nasari added, 'It looks brand-new.' The restoration unlocked long-buried memories of their family's life in Uganda.
When asked if the restoration met their expectations, Zaff replied, 'And more.' Nasari, choked with emotion, said, 'It brought me peace, seeing my mum and dad and how we were and my grandfather, how much time we spent together. Yeah, happy memories.'
Viewers at home were equally moved, with one tweeting, 'Don't know why I'm tearing up. Projector #therepairshop.' Another praised Mark's craftsmanship, calling it 'superb.' The episode also featured woodworker Will Kirk restoring a 130-year-old fire screen for another family.
