Rebecca Yarros Returns to Romance with Peculiar Stars

Bestselling author Rebecca Yarros has announced her return to contemporary romance with a new novel titled Peculiar Stars, set for release on 17 November 2026. The book, described as a “castaway romance,” marks her latest project following the success of her Empyrean fantasy series.

The story follows Callista, who survives a cyclone and becomes stranded on a deserted island with her fiancé’s cousin. As months pass and hope of rescue fades, the pair develop a reluctant emotional connection. The official synopsis notes that “when they’re finally found, the world hasn’t changed. But they have.”

Yarros revealed the novel during an appearance on TODAY on 28 April, explaining that she alternates between fantasy and contemporary romance. Her last contemporary release, Variation, was published in 2024. The author, who has Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, has spoken about slowing her writing pace to prioritise family.
