Ransom Canyon Season 2: Release Date, Cast, Episodes

Ransom Canyon Season 2 will premiere on Netflix on July 23, 2026, picking up six months after the events of the first season. The soapy Western drama, based on Jodi Thomas' book series, returns with eight episodes, two fewer than the debut season.

What Happens in Season 2?

Quinn O'Grady (Minka Kelly) returns to Ransom Canyon after spending six months in New York City working as a concert pianist. Her former love, Staten Kirkland (Josh Duhamel), is determined to win her back after their breakup at the end of Season 1. Showrunner April Blair told Netflix: "We have these three tenets, which are land, love, and legacy. We stick with that — and we have a little more fun this season."

The official synopsis states: "Rancher Staten fights to reclaim his legacy after being unseated as trustee of his family’s Double K Ranch, while musician Quinn must decide if her heart truly belongs in the small town she once tried to outrun. Are they star-crossed lovers, or fated to be together? In Ransom Canyon, true love stories are messy, complicated, and always worth the wait."

New Cast Members

Patricia Clarkson joins the cast as Claire O'Grady, Quinn's complicated mother. Minka Kelly said: "Working with Patricia was a dream. I remember when April said that they got her, I couldn’t believe it." Steve Howey, known for Reba and Shameless, plays Staten’s half-brother, Levi. Duhamel noted: "I actually recommended him for the part. He came in and did an amazing job."

Heidi Engerman portrays Yancy Grey’s (Jack Schumacher) mysterious wife, and Ben Robson appears in an undisclosed role. Robson's character, Oliver, forms a close bond with Quinn, introducing a new love triangle.

Character Developments

Duhamel said his character is "willing to accept a lot of the responsibility for what happened" and is "not as sullen as he was last year. He’s much more out of his shell. He has fun." However, Quinn's connection with Oliver may complicate Staten's efforts to reconcile.
