Fans of the acclaimed Apple TV series Pluribus are facing disappointment as star Rhea Seehorn has revealed that filming for season two has not yet begun, despite the show airing six months ago. The post-apocalyptic sci-fi drama, created by Breaking Bad's Vince Gilligan, debuted in November 2025 and quickly became the most-watched programme in Apple TV history, surpassing even Severance season two.
Record-Breaking Debut but No Filming Date
Pluribus achieved a 99% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and was hailed as "one of the best shows ever made" by viewers. However, Seehorn shared on Michael Rosenbaum's Inside of You podcast that there is no indication of when production will start. "We don't know [when it begins filming]," she explained. "They're in the writers' room right now. No, I don't [know anything]."
Seehorn added that Gilligan told her to "sharpen my pantomime skills" and that the writers went back to square one. "He said this publicly... they went back to the writers room with all these thoughts... They basically just wanted to go back to square one," she said.
Fans Express Frustration
The delay has led to an outpouring of frustration from fans, who took to social media begging for a release date. One viewer on IMDb remarked, "The casting is excellent but Rhea Seehorn is exceptional. She is a phenomenal actress." Another called the show a "real gem," while a third agreed it was "one of the best shows ever."
Despite the two-season commission ahead of the premiere, the lack of progress on season two has left many wondering when they will see more of the story. Pluribus centres on writer Carol Sturka (Rhea Seehorn), who becomes isolated when an alien virus turns humanity into a happy hive mind.

While Seehorn's update is disappointing, she expressed confidence in the creative process. "I think that's why these shows are so rewarding. He would even say he wishes he could get it back on sooner!" she said. For now, fans can stream season one on Apple TV as they wait for news on season two.
