Piers Morgan caused a stir on ITV's This Morning after swearing during a live debate about men's mental health. Host Ben Shephard was forced to apologise for the former Good Morning Britain presenter's language, but Morgan later claimed it was 'not really swearing'.
The incident occurred during a heated discussion on toxic masculinity with panellists Ashley James and Cat Deeley. When James argued that being 'tough' is not a masculine trait, Morgan exclaimed 'B******t!' before immediately apologising in a sarcastic tone, mimicking how hosts typically respond when a guest swears.
After the segment, Shephard addressed viewers: 'Obviously, as Piers said, we are sorry that he has such a foul mouth and we do apologise for swearing.' Morgan then questioned whether it was swearing, prompting Shephard to cut him off. Morgan later said his trouble is that he can now say what he thinks on YouTube, adding that the show is 'a little bit over sanitised'.
Viewers were already angered by Morgan's earlier comments dismissing the need for men to cry. One wrote: 'F*** off Piers. Have you walked with blokes who have faced suicide as an escape? Emote and cry if needed.' Another praised James for her restraint during the debate.
