Perfume Expert Shares Top Summer Scents from 200-Bottle Collection
Perfume Expert's Top Summer Scents from 200-Bottle Collection

A perfume expert with a collection of over 200 fragrances has shared the scents she is reaching for this summer. Jada Jones, who has traveled to Grasse to create her own perfume and learned from experts in Florence, spends considerable time exploring scents. She often receives compliments on her fragrance and has decided to share her top summer recommendations.

Starting with the Base

According to Jones, the scent journey begins before selecting a perfume, as shower gels and soaps can leave a lasting impression. She has been using Lush Yummy Custard (£9), Saltair Salt Water Vanilla (£16), and Palmolive's Fresh Lychee Dreamy Delight as her base. She is also eyeing new limited edition scents from Treaclemoon.

She follows this with a body oil, rotating between Phlur Vanilla Skin (£51), Saltair Salt Water Vanilla (£25), and Nala's Baby Vanilla Cloud (£5.75). Jones admits a preference for a sweet vanilla base before choosing her perfume.

Top Summer Picks

Phlur Vanilla Nectar

Key notes: papaya nectar, peach blossom, coconut orchid, whipped vanilla, honeyed amber

Jones describes this as love at first smell. She has been using it since last summer and took it on two beach holidays this year. The scent is sweet and fruity, reminiscent of biting into a juicy peach. It brightens her mood and lingers, as her sister noticed both she and her youngest sister had worn it. As a body mist, it is safe for hair and clothes. Available at SpaceNK and Sephora for £26 or £39.

Kayali Eden Sweet Peach

Key notes: juicy peach, red apple, nectarine, jasmine, vanilla, praline

Jones calls this Vanilla Nectar's sexy big sister. Paired together, they are unbeatable. This is the third addition to Kayali's Eden range, centered on red apple and lychee before peach. It is fruity with subtle florals, on the sweeter side, and perfect for summer gourmand season. Available at Cult Beauty, Space NK, and Sephora for £28, £80, or £110.

Zadig & Voltaire ZADIG

Key notes: sesame, orange blossom, vanilla, chantilly, sandalwood

This gourmand scent has a savory opening with black and white sesame and ginger, balanced by sweet chantilly cream. Jones keeps this perfume on a shelf because the bottle is too pretty to hide away. She finds herself reaching for it often. Available at LookFantastic, The Perfume Shop, Boots, and Superdrug for £64, £89, or £124.

NEST New York Crème De Clementine

Key notes: clementine, vanilla creme, blonde woods

This perfume makes Jones smell like an orange creamsicle, perfect for warmer weather. The citrus is balanced with sweet vanilla and grounding wood base. It has impressive longevity and always receives compliments. Available at Cult Beauty for £28 or £82.

Other Scents in Rotation

Jones has been trialing Easy Bake by Huda Beauty (£26), Honey Moon by Phlur (£32), and Lush's Confetti (£110), but fruity fragrances are taking center stage for her this summer.
