A new behind-the-scenes docuseries chronicling Pep Guardiola's final chapter at Manchester City will premiere this summer on Amazon Prime. The documentary, the latest in a series of inside-access films about the club, covers the last two seasons at the Etihad Stadium.
Insight into Guardiola's Departure and Player Exits
The series offers exclusive insight into Guardiola's decision to leave the club, as well as the summer exits of Bernardo Silva and John Stones, and Kevin De Bruyne's departure in 2025. The four-part series, directed by Academy and BAFTA award-winning filmmaker Kevin Macdonald alongside City Studios' John De Caux, follows City through a disappointing 2024-25 campaign and culminates with a domestic cup double and Guardiola's emotional farewell.
Behind the Scenes of a Rebuild
The series opens as City's record-breaking 26-game unbeaten run ends with a string of defeats in late 2024, leaving Guardiola visibly shaken. Attention then shifts to the boardroom as the club initiates a major rebuild, featuring De Bruyne's emotional departure and the arrival of new talent. The climax includes a pivotal clash with Arsenal, the FA Cup final, and Guardiola's heartfelt goodbye.
Produced by Kevin Macdonald for Plan B/KM Films, and Gavin Johnson and Ged Doherty for City Studios, the series is billed as the ultimate account of an emotional farewell marking the end of an era. Though no definitive release date has been set, it is expected to launch this month or next.
Media Director at City Football Group Gavin Johnson said: "We're incredibly proud to be announcing this documentary series today that offers a new insight to Manchester City and surpasses the scale of other documentaries we've done before. It wouldn't be achievable without the hard work, trust and collaboration that our City Studios' embedded crew have built over the last few years with the players, manager, football staff and club executives. It has been fantastic to work with Kevin MacDonald and Plan B/KM Films on this series and it is great endorsement for the level of our productions that we are now able to gain interest and recognition from those at the very top of the industry. We hope Manchester City fans and sports documentary enthusiasts enjoy the series."
