The stars of the hit series Rivals gathered in London on Wednesday for the premiere of its second season at the BFI IMAX Waterloo. Among the attendees were Emily Atack, Danny Dyer, David Tennant, and Aidan Turner, who walked the red carpet ahead of the show's return to screens.
Set in the high-stakes world of 1980s British television, the new season sees power struggles escalate and rivalries deepen, with ambition driving every move and loyalties pushed to the edge. Based on the second book in Jilly Cooper's Rutshire Chronicles series, the season will span 12 episodes, up from eight in the first.
Emily Atack, who plays Sarah Stratton, dazzled in a silver figure-hugging dress. She was joined by co-star Rufus Jones, whom she called her 'telly hubby'. Atack revealed that the cast have been invited to her upcoming wedding to Dr Alistair Garner, with Jones set to deliver a reading. Jones joked, 'I'm a fantasy husband and she's just having to settle for the real thing.'
David Tennant arrived with his wife Georgia and daughter Olive, who appears in the new season. Tennant wore a purple velvet suit, while Georgia opted for a turquoise mini-dress. Aidan Turner looked dapper in a stylish suit, and Alex Hassell was seen offering his jacket to co-star Bella Maclean on the chilly red carpet.
Victoria Smurfit, who plays Maud, wore a mint-coloured crystal-embellished Stella McCartney maxi dress, while Claire Rushbrook chose a burgundy kaftan-style midi-dress. The duo praised the cast's chemistry, saying, 'It felt like slipping back into a comfortable warm side of the bed.'
