Peaky Blinders to Return for Two New TV Series After Film

Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight has confirmed that the Shelby family saga will continue beyond the upcoming feature film, with two new six-part hourlong sequel series ordered by Netflix and the BBC. Original star Cillian Murphy will serve as an executive producer alongside Knight.

The sequels will follow on from the Peaky Blinders movie, currently in post-production and expected for release next year. Set in 1953, the new series will focus on a new generation of the Shelby family as Birmingham rebuilds after World War II. The logline describes a 'brutal contest' to control the city's reconstruction, with the Shelbys at its centre.

Filming will take place at Knight's Digbeth Loc. Studios in Birmingham, produced by Kudos and Garrison Drama. Casting and release dates are yet to be announced. BBC One will air the series in the UK, with Netflix handling global distribution.

Knight said: 'I'm thrilled to be announcing this new chapter... once again it will be rooted in Birmingham and will tell the story of a city rising from the ashes of the Birmingham blitz.' Netflix's Mona Qureshi added: 'We are ready to be captivated anew.'
