Christopher Nolan's Batman Trilogy Now Streaming on Netflix

Film fans can now enjoy one of the most acclaimed movie marathons as Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy arrives on Netflix. From today (May 7), subscribers can stream Batman Begins, The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises on the platform.

The trilogy, rooted in DC comics, ranks as the fourth greatest ever made according to Metacritic scores, behind only The Lord of the Rings, The Godfather and the original Star Wars trilogies. Batman Begins, released in 2005, marked the franchise's first outing since the poorly received 1997 film Batman and Robin starring George Clooney.

Christian Bale stars as Bruce Wayne, alongside an ensemble cast including Michael Caine, Morgan Freeman, Cillian Murphy and Gary Oldman. The film follows Wayne's training under the League of Shadows and his return to Gotham to prevent its destruction. One fan described it as 'the best origin story movie of all time'.

The Dark Knight (2008) is widely regarded as one of the finest sequels ever made, holding a 94% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Heath Ledger's posthumous Oscar-winning performance as the Joker is a highlight. The film explores Batman's struggle between heroism and vigilantism as the Joker plunges Gotham into chaos.

The trilogy concludes with The Dark Knight Rises (2012), set eight years after the previous film. Batman is drawn out of exile to face the villain Bane and cat burglar Selina Kyle. Anne Hathaway and Tom Hardy join the cast. While not as acclaimed as its predecessor, it is considered a fitting conclusion to the series.
