This week's television schedule is packed with drama and rebellion, as BBC One airs Sally Wainwright's latest series, Riot Women. The six-part drama follows four menopausal women who start a punk rock band to enter a local talent contest, but their lives are turned upside down when they meet their fiery frontwoman, Kitty, who has a chilling past. Written by Sally Wainwright, the series is her most autobiographical yet, tackling ageing and menopause with grit and humour. The cast includes Joanna Scanlan, Tamsin Greig, Amelia Bullmore, Lorraine Ashbourne and Rosalie Craig.
Sky also offers plenty of drama with The Iris Affair for espionage fans and The Chair Company for those in need of a laugh. Former Strictly star Pete Wicks fronts a new season of his U&W show, For Dogs' Sake, where he champions vulnerable dogs to help them find a forever home. He also appears in the second series of Romesh Ranganathan's Parents' Evening on ITV.
Hamza Yassin delivers a new project, hitting the road to discover the British Isles, while Rylan Clark and Professor Alice Roberts dig for answers on England's witch hunts. The hard-hitting documentary series Hunted returns for its third season, spotlighting specialist UK police units across four episodes, starting with a firebombing investigation in Merseyside.
Other highlights include the supernatural horror noir Revival, starring Melanie Scrofano, and a documentary celebrating Dame Julie Andrews on her 90th birthday. The comedy series The Chair Company, created by former Saturday Night Live writers Tim Robinson and Zach Kanin, also premieres this week.
