KPop Demon Hunters Sequel Confirmed by Netflix and Sony

Netflix and Sony Pictures Animation have officially announced a sequel to the animated film 'KPop Demon Hunters', titled 'KPop Demon Hunters 2'. Directors Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans will return to write and direct the follow-up, which is reportedly aiming for a 2029 release. The announcement comes as part of a new multi-year writing and directing deal between the duo and Netflix.

The original film, which debuted directly on Netflix, became a global phenomenon and now ranks as the streamer's most popular movie of all time. It also received a theatrical sing-along release in 2025. 'KPop Demon Hunters' is nominated for Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song at the upcoming Oscars.

While plot details for the sequel remain under wraps, Appelhans teased that the filmmakers are 'excited to write their next chapter, challenge them and watch them evolve.' Kang expressed pride as a Korean filmmaker, stating, 'There's so much more to this world we have built and I'm excited to show you. This is only the beginning.'
