Fresh 'unhinged' episodes of Netflix's 'funniest show ever' are now streaming. A brand new series of Bad Thoughts dropped on the platform today (24 May). Crafted by comedian Tom Segura, the programme made its debut last year and viewers instantly called for a second series.
Now, just over 12 months on and their prayers have been answered. Marketed as a dark comedy by the streamer, each instalment sees Segura exploring unthinkable scenarios and fantasies within a cinematic universe. In essence, it can be regarded as a warped sketch programme that genuinely pushes the limits. The material has led to the show being considered rather polarising.
It showcases a colourful ensemble of characters and storylines that develop in progressively amusing and disturbing directions. Segura not only appears in the programme but also holds writing and directing credits. The comedian already has numerous specials on the streaming service, including 2020's Ball Hog, alongside 2023's Sledgehammer and the more recent Teacher, which became available in 2025.
Critical Reception
Regrettably for the stand-up performer, Bad Thoughts wasn't warmly embraced by every professional reviewer when it first launched. It only succeeded in achieving a 54% score on website Rotten Tomatoes. Nevertheless, in a preview of the programme, a correspondent for the LA Times compared the show to 'like a fever dream. It's so unhinged that your brain might file a restraining order.'
One reviewer described it as 'Netflix's most twisted dark comedy series of all time'. They continue by noting the programme ventures 'to the absolute limit of what most people can stomach. Pushing boundaries with its edgy, even cringey, comedic content, Segura is at his most off-the-rails ever.' They also anticipate that Season 2 'will surely be a perfect one-night weekend binge for all comedy fans.'
Fan Reactions
Despite receiving polarising reviews, Bad Thoughts has nevertheless cultivated a loyal following who enthusiastically endorse the programme. One viewer sharing their opinion online simply remarked: 'Bad Thoughts is sooooo good! Funniest show on Netflix for sure.' Another contributed: 'This show is pure gold. Some of these sketches are the funniest things I've ever seen on TV.'
Someone else offered their assessment, proclaiming: 'So dark and twisted. Some of these images have stuck with me and will probably never leave my head... bravo.'
