Stranger Things Season 5: Meet Nell Fisher, the New Holly Wheeler
Nell Fisher: The New Holly Wheeler in Stranger Things 5

The global phenomenon that is Stranger Things has reached its epic conclusion. The fifth and final season premiered on Netflix in the UK on 27 November 2025, bringing with it a significant new cast member. British child star Nell Fisher has stepped into the pivotal role of Holly Wheeler, the younger sister of Mike and Nancy, marking a major recast for the character.

From London to Hawkins: Nell Fisher's Casting Journey

The role of Holly Wheeler was previously portrayed by twins Anniston and Tinsley Price. However, for the show's grand finale, creators the Duffer Brothers expanded Holly's storyline, requiring a more experienced young performer. Fisher, 14, won the part to play a key role in a narrative that echoes the abduction of Will Byers from the very first season.

Despite her flawless American accent on screen, Nell Fisher hails from London. Her life has been anything but ordinary, as the daughter of a diplomat. This has seen her live in various countries including New Zealand and South Africa, making the year-long shoot for Stranger Things in Atlanta, USA, a familiar experience of adapting to new environments.

A Rising Star's Impressive Resume

While Stranger Things is undoubtedly her biggest break to date, Fisher is no newcomer to acting. Her portfolio includes notable roles in the fantasy film Bookworm with Elijah Wood, the Netflix interactive movie Choose Love, and the horror hit Evil Dead Rise. She has also appeared in television series such as My Life is Murder alongside Lucy Lawless.

Her passion for performance began in childhood, where she and her sister would stage plays for their parents. This early love for the craft has now catapulted her into the heart of one of the world's most beloved television series.

Life on Set and Beyond the Upside Down

Fisher's first days on the Stranger Things set involved being directed by the Duffer Brothers and sharing key scenes with series veteran Cara Buono, who plays her mother, Karen Wheeler. These moments are described as crucial in propelling the final season's narrative forward.

When the cameras stopped rolling, Fisher returned to the life of a dedicated student. Juggling her academic commitments, she studies languages including Russian, Greek, Ancient Greek, and Latin. Away from her schoolwork and acting, she enjoys the physical challenges of rock climbing and bouldering.

Interestingly, Fisher had not seen Stranger Things before auditioning. With her parents' permission, she binge-watched the series in preparation and is now a huge fan. Her older cast mates, many of whom were child actors themselves, offered her valuable advice: to simply enjoy being young amidst the whirlwind of fame.

The final season consists of eight episodes, released in three volumes over the festive period, ensuring fans a prolonged and thrilling farewell to Hawkins, Indiana, and its unforgettable characters.
