Stefan Dennis, best known for playing Paul Robinson in the Australian soap opera Neighbours, has been announced as the twelfth celebrity contestant for the upcoming series of Strictly Come Dancing. The show will return to BBC One and BBC iPlayer this September.
Dennis originated the role of Paul Robinson in the first episode of Neighbours in 1985 and appeared in over 6,000 episodes over 40 years. His other television credits include Prisoner, The Henderson Kids, The Bill, Dream Team, River City, and Casualty, as well as a stint in the West End musical Blood Brothers.
Speaking about his participation, Dennis said: “This is an opportunity for me to once again learn to step out of my comfort zone in the world of television. Looking forward to the sparkle and reaching for the sky.” The news was revealed on ITV’s This Morning.
Strictly Come Dancing is produced by BBC Studios for BBC One and BBC iPlayer. The remaining celebrity contestants will be announced in due course.
