British Naturists Launch 'Ironic' Clothing Range for Nudists
Naturists Launch Ironic Clothing Range

It may seem like the ultimate contradiction, but a new clothing line has been launched specifically for nudists. The organisation representing the UK's naturist community has begun selling garments featuring humorous references to nudism, including T-shirts emblazoned with slogans such as 'Nothing's Better' and 'I've Got Nothing On Later'.

Embracing the Irony

Acknowledging the apparent inconsistency of selling clothes to people who prefer to be naked, the range is marketed under the 'Ironic' label. Mark Bass, president of British Naturism, which boasts 9,000 members across the UK, explained: 'We've launched our new merchandise store, Ironic Clothing. It might sound bizarre, but the point is that we're still naturists, even in situations where we're reluctantly forced to wear clothes.'

Product Range and Pricing

Other products include essential accessories for naked gatherings, such as beach towels and sun hats. A white cotton T-shirt featuring a cartoon of a naked bearded man relaxing in a hammock between two trees, accompanied by the slogan 'I've got nothing on later', is priced at £20. Meanwhile, a 'Nothing's Better' hoodie is available for £45.

Philosophy Behind the Brand

The British Naturism website states: 'A clothing line for people who don't like wearing clothes? That has to be the purest form of irony. Sometimes life insists you put something on. That doesn't mean turning your back on your principles.' The site further describes Ironic Clothing as 'an ethically sourced brand for people who believe in the freedom to wear what they want – and to be exactly who they are.'
