Naga Munchetty Faces Formal BBC Bullying Investigation

BBC Breakfast presenter Naga Munchetty is reportedly under formal investigation over allegations of bullying, according to The Sun. The claims, previously raised against the 50-year-old broadcaster, have now been escalated to a full inquiry.

A BBC spokesperson declined to comment, stating: “We do not comment on individual HR matters.” Munchetty joined the corporation in 2008 as a presenter on Working Lunch and moved to BBC Breakfast in 2014. She also hosts a mid-morning show on BBC Radio 5 Live.

Munchetty earned between £355,000 and £359,999 in 2024-25, as per the BBC’s annual report. An HR adviser from PricewaterhouseCoopers is supporting the corporation in examining the culture of the Salford-based programme.

In September, BBC Breakfast editor Richard Frediani was cleared of bullying allegations after an investigation. He had taken extended leave following the claims. Tim Davie, who resigned as director general last weekend, and BBC board chair Samir Shah vowed in April to address poor behaviour after an independent review found some “well-known names” were not being held accountable.

The review, led by management consultant Grahame Russell, was prompted by allegations against former newsreader Huw Edwards, who received a suspended prison sentence last year for making indecent images of children.
