BBC Breakfast presenter Naga Munchetty has apologised after liking tweets deemed offensive regarding the use of a British flag during an interview with Housing Secretary Robert Jenrick.
On Thursday, Munchetty and co-host Charlie Stayt drew attention to a union jack and a picture of the Queen displayed behind Mr Jenrick. Stayt ended the interview with a joke about the size of the flag.
Munchetty later tweeted: 'I liked tweets today that were offensive in nature about the use of the British flag as a backdrop in a government interview this morning. I have since removed these likes.'
She added: 'This do not represent the views of me or the BBC. I apologise for any offence taken.'
The BBC declined to comment. In September, incoming director general Tim Davie warned staff about their use of social media.
